I'm a staunch advocate of usability, web standards, and good typography.

Meet Jared Fager.

I design and build user experiences–and sweat the details.

My relationship with visual arts began when I was just a kid. Encouraged by my parents, who were both artists and art educators, I drew, painted, sculpted and collaged constantly. I can remember thinking of myself as “an artist” long before I had any other concept of self-identity.

When my school got its first set of Macintoshes in the early 90’s, all equipped with MacPaint, my life changed. I would spend hours creating logos, flyers, even business cards, for imaginary companies. This obsession only grew as I got older, and was fueled by my many changing interests. From the pet store I wanted to start when I was 8, to the skateboard company I dreamt of creating in middle school, there were hundreds of logos, ads, photos, and videos.

Fast forward to 2001. The year I graduated high school, ready to head off to college to get my degree in fine art photography. I made my first website, a showcase of my skateboarding photos, using Adobe GoLive. From that point on, photography became a means to an end for me. The end being posting the photos to the web. I read, I searched, I inspected the source code of every website I visited. My interest culminating in an electronic media class at USF where I met Dave Rau. I don’t think Dave’s influence on me can really be measured–suffice it to say that he gave me the foundation for everything that I stand for in regards to the way things ought to be done. He set me on the path I’m on now, and, not surprisingly, opened the door to working with Big Sea, who have turned out to be some of the kindest, and most supportive people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.

Briefly: I love music–the weirder, the better. I’m a foodie. I ride a 50cc scooter. I have a cat and two little dogs. I’m a bona fide member of the grammar and punctuation police. I love well-made things. If you hadn’t already guessed, I’m a total nerd.

You’ll never hear me say: “This is good enough.”
