Hand-picked harvesting just got a lot simpler with BucketLoad app – and it’s iPhone accompaniment. This Ruby on Rails app was built to help farmers manage their pickers and fields during harvest season.

Each picker receives an ID badge with a QR code, and the iPhone or iPod touch, loaded with the BucketLoad mobile app, is used to scan their badge when they bring buckets of crops to the truck. Blueberry, strawberry and citrus farmers have been using elementary hand-tallying for years – practices with large degrees of error and human intervention. BucketLoad simplifies pick quantification and offers sophisticated reporting features to simplify payroll and manage year-over-year harvest operations.
