Individuals and companies are sometimes "overly competitive" because of perhaps the economy, or their own egos - whatever the reason, the most successful industries in the world improve by paying attention to their competition. The relationship between Microsoft and Apple is a perfect example. Locally, take a look at the 600 block in St. Pete. Its made up of creative businesses banning together and promoting one another and is certainly working for them. Bands, artists, and designers usually do a great job of promoting and providing sound criticism. Most businesses can benefit from a positive attitude toward what their competitors are doing well. Credibility, respect, and positive exposure all make up the formula for success.
